Annual Recap

Yes I made a webpage for this, again.

Let’s get into it.

Year 12 of the league is in the books! Congrats to the champs, Chilango-Landia! The championship matchup was a bit of a letdown/blowout, but Carlos doesn’t care. Here’s how things shook out in the playoffs.

Chilango-Landia came into the playoffs as a 5 seed and went on an absolute tear scoring 160, 184(!) and 160 to secure his first championship. Congrats to Miguel who rode the new-guy buff all the way to the championship game and finished in 2nd place! Lastly, congrats to Alex Nava who not only avoided the punishment but also won the consolation bracket locking in next year’s 1st overall pick.

So what are the payouts?

In-Season Weekly Winners

This was fun to keep up with again. I’m not sure how much the rest of the league pays attention to it though… constructive feedback/criticism is very much welcomed if anyone has ideas to spice this up.

In-Season Survivor

I’m still butthurt about this. After my 89 points in week 4 I scored triple digits the rest of the year! But I digress. Anyway, congrats to Rene who consistently put up huge numbers throughout the year (Except in week 2 when he scored 86 but escaped the red X because the eventual champ only scored 76).

Punishment

It came down to the last matchup of the regular season, it was a nail biter, but in the end Nava’s team clawed their way out of the basement and finished in 11th place. It was Oscar’s team who finished in 12th so he’ll be doing the punishment at some point this summer.

This is the punishment that was picked and we’re still trying to figure out the logistics but I think the point is that we’re trying to turn this into something where we can hang and all get hammered at. Maybe we do this at next year’s draft?

State of the League

This was probably our most straightforward year. There was about a 900% decrease in MedianBitching™️ and there was no mid-season vote that was then reversed. We moved up the trade deadline and it was a non-issue (honestly blew my mind). Perhaps it was that Oscar was pretty quickly out of the running but there was a LOT less attacking of the commissioner this year and that felt lovely. Speaking of Oscar, unfortunately we’ll be losing one of our league’s charter members, as he says he’ll be leaving the league after 12 years. His big wonderful heart can’t take much more of this, especially after what the 49ers did to him.

There was a lot of chugs doled out this year, mostly to Danny. He didn’t turn them all in, but I legitimately lost track. Here’s all the one’s we got…

Dues

Last but not least, your guys’ league fees are due! You owe your $60 buy in plus whatever you spent on free agents this year. If you hit any weekly bonuses, that’s already subtracted from your total. Here’s the chart of what everyone owes and how much is owed to the winners.
